Monday
I Have a Shot is my second game of the summer. It's a good thing I started last week, when I had free time. I started a new job today, which means I have much less spare time. I'm also sick, which makes everything better. So it's a good thing I can reuse a lot of code from Grapnel.
My idea right now is that one player uses WASD to move and JKL to interact with things, e.g. knocking out guards, picking locks, peeking through keyholes, etc., while the other player uses just the mouse to aim a cross hair which can double as a scope for getting close ups. The second player has different kinds of shots including a regular, piercing, and something with an area effect that I haven't decided yet. Levels will be in the form of contracts, with different challenges, eg non-lethal, no alarms, etc., and will be procedural.
That's the idea, anyways. Realistically, I expect to get player one moving and player two shooting in one small level, with guards that walk into the walls. Once again, I have nothing to show on day one. Today was spent mostly handling unrelated things, and figuring out what code to salvage from Grapnel. Goals for tomorrow will be making the cross hair and guards that walk back and forth and die.
